Boots in distress

Sand paper and paint make a boot what it aint! OLD! Sometimes you just gotta be brave.  Dive into the do it NOW!  This pair of moto ankle boots arrived at my door all pristine and black.  Not anymore!

Distress your own boots DIY. First I do a little sanding to rough em up.  Next, I squash em.  Get some good creases going.  Then comes the bravery!  Paint!  Use artists or craft acrylic. I rub it on with a wet rag. I try to think of where the boots would naturally get scuffed up. This time I went a little heavier than I need to so I could wipe it back a bit. If you mess it up, you can’t get them looking like new again but you can rub the paint off or go over them with black polish. You’ve gotta know I did experiment for about a quarter of a second on a little piece of the inside boot. That’s more of a formality, however…I just GO!! This is just some crazy thing I’ve done to new stuff all my life! I remember the first pair of 501′s I soaked in bleach and sanded  in highschool. My Dad couldn’t believe I just killed a perfectly good pair of jeans…but I LOVED them!!!

  1. Hi Kimi. Was just looking at (and loving) your blog. Love the pants… the plaid… matches my doona cover perfect. Go tartan! (-:

  2. Forget the boots (not really, i love them)…lets talk pants…I love those! FYI: I’m on the search for a black and white houndstooth print, like the bakers wear…oh yeah!

What are you thinking?
