Crazy for lemon water

My neighbors tree is full of these beauties! Big, yellow, California lemons. Remember the dizzy coconut juice post a couple weeks ago? (click HERE) I’ve been on a little quest to replenish electrolytes and get more sodium in my system. Lemonade’s got a few hidden secrets.  It’s got some minerals, but even better, the vitamin C helps your body absorb iron and also aids your liver with it’s detox. I use lemon water a lot, especially when I’m feeling bloated and sluggish I add it to hot water with honey, but I never knew why. Ha!! Doctor stupid actually does a lot of things without really knowing why. I’m more like doctor impulsive!!!  Well, anyway…that’s why.  Because the liver loves it!!  Ok, so go make some lemonade! A liver lover, not a fighter!

  • Juice 2 lemons and 2 limes
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (leave this out if you aren’t trying to replenish sodium)
  • 1 liter of water
  • Agave nectar to sweeten things up

That’s all!  Stir it, drink it!

  1. I never ask for lemon with my water when I go to restaurants, but if it is given to me I always squeeze it in. I figured that I should not turn down vitamin C given to me for free. I had no idea there were so many other benefits.

      • haaaaaa….”i’m writing a letter to Daddy….” isn’t that baby jane? Even if not, i’m cracking up over a few memoirs. Didn’t you bug leesh to tears that night? oh gosh….i’m laughing.

  2. I started drinking lemon water about a month ago. Every morning I squeeze half a lemon into a cup of warm water and add a little honey. I used to do it only when I was feeling sick, but now I’m seriously addicted! I didn’t know when I started, but apparently it does have all sorts of health benes, including making the body more alkaline! Who knew?!

What are you thinking?
