Magical mini indoor gardening

For years I’ve collected vintage pots and planters. Huge, tiny and everything else. I have big bright red shelves in the kitchen where they display in all their glory like they’re at a museum. After seeing how well my gnomes are thriving in their terrarium on nothin but a little sunshine and a spray bottle (click HERE), I got a tiny bit practical. The cool thing about spray bottle indoor gardening (that’s my awesome name for it) is that you can grow plants in anything. It doesn’t need a drain because you aren’t giving it loads of water. If you can bring your mind around to that new idea, you’re in! And it’s mini. Everyone loves mini! These would make great little gifts, don’t ya think?

Start with a layer of rock then dirt. Add plants. I spray mine really good about every 2 weeks. Like maybe 50 sprays of water all around the little plants. I stick with succulents because that’s what I can keep alive and they don’t have complex root systems. Perfect for my spray bottle method! If you get all crazy and have success with some other kinds of plants, tell me. I think you’ll love having these mini gardens hanging around the house! Happy indoor gardening! kimi.

This is a great idea for my little apartment!
For sure!!! Do it!! EASY!
the colors remind me of christmas! i love the rectangular shape of the pot in the first image. super cute.
Thanks!! My whole house is red and green. Funny, one time someone walked in my kitchen and thought my vintage sparkly green and red bar stools were there for holiday decor! I wonder how much of it does have to do with my life long true love of Christmas time!
Cool Beans! So whats in the red cannister?
HAHAHA!!!
hahahahaha
Those cute little plants are almost as adorable as you in that first photo. :)
Ha!!! THANKs!!! I just found those glasses. They will be made into sunglasses but I couldn’t resist wearing them around all day. Tempted to keep them as readers but I’ve been told they might be a bit much!
I have a feeling that you could carry it off.
Haha…it’s scary what I can pull off if I don’t over think it! My mother’s a saint! :))
:)
a bit much??? nah! They’d fit in great with the Sunday School!
Love, love, LOVE your light fixture over the dining room table! I am seriously swooning. :) Your containers are great. I just planted some broken off pieces I picked up the other day. That’s the best thing about them- so easy to start new plants! And I’m with you on the air plants, definitely want a few hanging containers!
Oh, I KNOW!!! I found that one on Ebay! I love it!!! OK, air plants. I have a tiki pole sorta deal outside that I want to attach them to. I wonder if the air outside is too dry. If that’s why you see them in those round globes. ya dig?
Good question, I’ll definitely be researching air plants a biy! Plus, I think it’s super cute that Jay comments on your posts! But now I’m wondering…what IS in that container?! ;)
Keep on wonderin!!! :))
I am a florist and I love those little succulents. Yours look very healthy and well tended to. Have you ever seen air plants? They are sometimes in tiny shells. All they need it a little mist of water. They look great in these hanging glass globes with a little hole in the front (w/o the shell). We put them in there in front of a window where I work.
I’ve wanted to do something with those!! And there are so many cool looking ones. How long do they stay healthy?
I’ve heard they can last years but I got only 1 year out of mine. I may be in the business of plants but the last thing I want to do when I get home is take care of one!Lol.They are pretty hard to kill (
I managed to kill one though!)
