Gnome terrarium paradise

I remember being fascinated with terrariums as a kid.  Mini worlds encased in glass. That was probably somewhere in the 70s but it wasn’t til I saw one filled with succulents on some florists website that I finally went for it.  I don’t consider myself to have a green thumb, I only go for plants that are easy and super forgiving! This one’s been going for over a couple months now and I just noticed some baby plants  popping up.  There’s also a tiny little spider living in there. Everybody must be pretty happy! It’s the perfect pet!!!  No spit, poop and best of all it requires NO exercise. Heaven in a fishbowl! My contented gaze is proof!

There are tons of tutorials, how to’s and lists online for making terrariums. I got a big fishbowl, cut some plants from the yard and did it.  I used pea gravel from the backyard, too.  Only thing I had to buy was cactus mix, a bag of moss and charcoal. Don’t know if I even really needed the charcoal but I liked the idea. Took about 10 min. to assemble. I keep this one in an east facing corner window and spray the heck out of it with water once a month. It seems to love me.  Try it!

  4. Really you don’t consider yourself to have a green thumb?!? I still have garden envy and I haven’t seen yours for way too long. I think your thumb is as green as they come. Love this!

  5. Great job, Kimi! So cute with the gnomes! I’ve been wanting to do a terrarium for over a year now, but surface space is rare in these parts! Just might have to shuffle some Pyrex for this. ;)
