Treats from the early Hurley

“Sorry you have it so hard Kimi- rough life! ;)” That’s a comment left on Mondays post. Hahah…Oh, I know! I couldn’t agree more!! Sometimes a girl can get left out there in the sun with no umbrella…there are hazards!! Jay Jay just walked in all smiles from an early morning surf session still dripping with salt water and it’s only 8:15am. I don’t spend much time in the waves but I LOVE the lifestyle. It’s why we live here and days like this make it even better!! As promised, here’s some fave shots from the Hurley Pro earlier this week. I know some of you have been waiting for this! A good amount of readers from all over the world on the Pixie find me through my surf photos. You’re in luck!! I’ll be back with more!
That’s Tanner Gudauskas starting us off up top. Obviously probably most likely my favorite!

No tickets, no lines, just get to the beach and pick a spot!

Gudauskas brothers. Dane, Tanner and Patrick

I love Owen Wright. He didn’t make it through to the 3rd round, you could see the bummer all over his face but it was this view of him being sent home that almost produced a tear. These guys show up for these contests and if the waves don’t come or they don’t hit em just right, it’s over til next time.

Love this girls style. That silk top, high bun and heeled boots are all there to support that pair of dukes! I’m a huge fan of unlikely pairings! Digging this!
Surfer Matt Wilkinson scoping it out. He made it through to the 2nd round but goes up against Kelly Slater next!

Highlight of the day was when this guy, a local kid, Kolohe Andino took a wave along with 2 big dolphins. The shot was gorgeous but I didn’t get it….I was too busy watching! Sooo cool!
Heitor Alves and a fellow Brazillian do the man hug.

That’s Pat Gudauskas. He didn’t make it through round 2 either. No more Gudauskas goodies for this contest…

Me and Heitor. He’s a favorite for sure! Super friendly and a powerful surfer!
See ya…I’ll post more on Friday!

I love Owen Wright too and it’s a long story, having to do with a story I’m writing, that led me down this winding path to discovering the world of surfing, to making little surfboards and painting on them (I’m an artist)…It was disappointing to see him out of the Hurley so early. He seems like a nice kid who loves to surf. Anyway, thanks for the pics. I enjoy your blog.
so… is it a prerequisite to be a super model to be a competitive surfer? holy cow! what is going ON? everybody’s hot!
Hahahah….for sure!!! I was thinking the same. I don’t think there’s a dud in the mix!!! k.

I was waiting for the pic in your get-up…I know you were probably sporting your shorty-shorts!
Hahaha…thats today!!!!
so envious! (:
Yeah, I agree with Cali Mom, as if Im right there. You can watch the heats online, but you provide behind the scenes stuff! Goody!
Fab pics yet again, Kimi! I love that you can see the sand on the bottom of Owen Wright’s foot (in classic “footprint” shape!). I love the “from one tatoo to another” hug, and the snap of thr rr tracks and your shadow (I’m a sucker for tracks)! Definitely looks like good times.
What a fun week lucky lady! …your pics are great… makes me feel that I am there while I seat and work, and stare at my computer for more work todo, but I decided to procrastinate for a few minutes and look at your pics. This will make my day! :)
