The 9 lives of a backyard skate ramp

Sometimes I go out there and think, “Man, this skate ramp has gotta go!” It takes up so much space, it needs to be resurfaced (again) and I can see a nice big deck in it’s place with a giant party table that seats 20. Then my next thought comes to me even louder. “Kimi, these boys won’t be boys forever.” And so we devote another weekend to the cause. Refurbishing the half pipe. It’s a love affair that rarely survives the first round of fall rains. This time we’re especially devoted! We’ll find out soon enough how it weathers.  In the meantime, the boys will grow another year older and we’ll have em right where we want em. Having fun in our own backyard!

  1. YAY…glad you held on to it. I’m just amazed at how much one can fit into a back yard. I love it. And what was your contribution sitting on the ramp…painting another gnome? Ahhhh the life!

  2. Coolest kids on the block! Reminds me of my own childhood growing up. Except I had a pink skateboard that I fell off of a lot so I sat on the side of the ramp at a friend’s house, watching the boys. :)

  3. “Ohhh how we suffer for our children” either Tears for Fears or Tolstoy. Ramp looks great, and rebuilding it was the fun part… quality time with the boys!

  4. I’m confused (and evidently behind on current events). So the ramp stayed? No backyard reconstruction was enjoyed by all???

  5. I know, I have basketball nets, a garden in the middle of my yard, an upstairs hallway “decorated” by my children –you have discovered what is important, and it is neither interior or exterior decorations – our time will come

What are you thinking?
