The great white adventure

This is sort of a part 2 to Facing fears and the Alaska cruise (click). That trip was so good to us I wanted to tempt you into going with a few more pix. Oh ya, we froze our buns off, for sure, but in return we saw Orca’s jumping out of the water, totem poles galore, even ran around on a glacier. Miles and miles of uninhabited snow covered shoreline. Air so clean you don’t even know it’s there! We ate and slept more than we needed. Mega recharge. For a week, we were kings of the great white adventure.

LOVE this get-up! He went to Alaska without packing a coat OR long pants.  Forever California.

Entertaining the Skagway Train passengers with a little horsey dance. Just trying to blend in!

Jumping over a glacial crevasse.  Maybe a new favorite word…crevasse.

  3. Oh, Ketchikan on a sunny day. Impossible! I did the same tour you guys did at 12 yrs old with my family. It stayed with me FOREVER. We went from Western NY to AK in the back of a pickup truck and decided I’d live there when I grew up (ya, watch out mom!)…So a month after graduation I got a job and lived in the wilds of Alaska… memoir forthcoming… which explains the blog, a bit!
I LOVE the pic of the forever California kid. My little Arizona desert kids are the same… they never pack warm enough clothing! The photo of you jumping the crevasse is GREAT! Precious stuff! More Pixie More! – Renee

    • Woah Renee….into the wild! Write it!!! My kid is shorts year round. Even on snowboarding trips. Hahah…wish you could see the crevasse. Wasn’t really wide but goes on forever. Thanks!! happy weekend. kimi.

    • Ha. The pic standing against the wall? The one that makes me look like a giant in my red jacket? Or the tourist witht he video cam. Now that I look at it…was he taking a shot of me?? Hahaha…THANKS for stopping by!! Happy weekend. kimi.

      • The guy and the tiki is amusingly has two drinks in his hands. Hehe. And the other guy? Yep, he’s filming you. Don’t be surprise to see yourself in youtube. Bwahahaha.
Ow I will have a great weekend. Coming to San Diego again! Was just there the other weekend ago.

  4. Great photos! Love that your son did not pack any pants or coats. I knew a guy who used to wear sandals in the snow because he hated to admit he lived in a cold climate (Michigan) lol

  5. I wanted to move to Alaska because I wanted to live on the old TV show “Northern Exposure” where everyone is wacky and still fits in…good to know you all adapted too! Let it fly! :P

    • THAT’s the show!! I was trying to think of it when we were there. Also, I thought there was a sitcom I thought was also alaska where the characters ran a small flight company. Ring a bell? k.

      • Wasn’t that the show with Thomas Hayden Church? Wings? “Northern Exposure” was set in “Cicily” but was really modeled after a town up by Denali called Talkeetna.

  6. Love all the pics! oh and the fashion…the hairy two piece, and .Byron’s unique taste in pattern choices, I’m telling you Alaska is so liberating!
