Facing fears and the Alaska cruise

I did it! I didn’t think I ever would, but I did it. I embraced cruise culture! I faced my fear of big ships in deep water and went on an Alaska cruise. I’ve traveled a lot but I have never experienced anything so relaxing in my life. Once I got past the fact that I had joined the ranks of the most blatant tourists on earth, I grabbed a plate at the buffet and fell in love!

My support team… (Yep…that’s the boat!)

Such gorgeous pics! My husband grew up in Skagway and I have to say I have never seen anywhere more beautiful than Alaska! Glad that you had a great time:)
Skagways beautiful!! The big open clean air up there is addicting!!!! Cruise was a blast!
Miss the brisk air flowing into the balcony! yes.
oh ya!!
Looks like fun Kimi! When you were in Ketchikan, you were about 20 miles from he small village where I grew up. We’ve still never gone on a cruise. But we go visit family in Alaska 1-2 times a year…one of the most beautiful parts of the world to visit.
Sandra the cruise is fantastic. The scenery just seems to float by. One gorgeous site after the next. It’s a treat!
Land of the midnight sun! Love Alaska and so miss the summers! We moved from Fairbanks to Cali four years ago. You must go back and see more! There are many unique people to share life with when you get off and drive up into the state :)
Oh, FAIRBANKS! Tell me… I am wanting to see the northern lights. I heard Feb, mar, apr are the best times…would you agree?
Strangely, the coldest times have been the best times to see Aurora in my experience. I recommend December or January, maybe early February–especially after midnight. Later it starts to be light more (as in more than four hours a day) and somewhat warmer…Many Japanese tour groups used to come into town that time of the year to drive out past our house to Chena Hot Springs. They believe that having sex in the hot springs under the Aurora helps fertility. So there are tours that time of year to see Aurora but I’ll leave it up to you if you want to join that group! :p
Great photos! I went on my first cruise last year to the Bahamas and I too was skeptical… but it was so much fun. The all inclusive culture made for a very stress free vacation. I never thought about an Alaskan cruise though. Was it freezing?
It was chillly. We went a couple weeks ago and it was snowing in some places, still. Not usual weather, we heard but we had SUN for the most part. It was in the 40s. Brisk and soooo fresh!!! My down jacket kept me so comfy!
Beautiful pictures Kimi!!! :)
Thanks Ga!!!
